Dr. Sue Saunders

Dr. Saunders currently serves as an Associate Extension Professor and Coordinator of the Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration Program at the University of Connecticut and is a Research Scholar with the Center on Postsecondary Education and Disability. Her career also includes service as a graduate faculty member in the College Student Affairs Administration Program at the University of Georgia. In addition to faculty positions, Sue has served as the Dean of Student Affairs at Lycoming College (Pennsylvania), as Dean of Students and as Executive Assistant to the President and Board of Trustees at Longwood University (Virginia) and in other administrative positions in Virginia, Georgia, and West Virginia. As part of her administrative responsibilities, Sue collaborated extensively with disability services providers and college counselors.

Sue earned her Ph.D. in Counseling and Student Personnel Services from the University of Georgia. She is the author or coauthor of 40 publications, including Becoming Socialized in Student Affairs Administration (2009, Stylus Publishers) and Supervising New Professionals in Student Affairs (2003, Brunner-Routledge). Her research interests include professional development needs of student affairs staff who serve students with disabilities and effective supervision of new student affairs professionals.
